Brazil Sweep Scotland, Morocco Win Six-Goal Thriller - World Cup Days 13-14
June 23-24, 2026
Six matches, eighteen goals, and two more groups were settled. Brazil stormed past Scotland to top Group C unbeaten, Morocco won a six-goal thriller to join them in the knockouts, and Switzerland edged Canada to claim Group B on a dramatic final day. Here is what happened across June 23-24.
Scotland 0-3 Brazil
Brazil confirmed top spot in Group C with a 3-0 win over Scotland in a game that was effectively over by half-time. Two goals before the break put Brazil in control, and a third after it sealed a victory that never looked in doubt. Vinicius Junior was at the heart of it - his pace and movement too much for Scotland's back line all evening.
The result means Brazil finish the group stage unbeaten: two wins and a draw, six goals scored, none conceded in their last two matches. Scotland, who needed a result to have any chance of progressing, end the tournament with three points from three games and head home.
Morocco 4-2 Haiti
A six-goal thriller in the other Group C clash, and arguably the match of the day. It was 2-2 at half-time - Haiti twice coming back to level - before Morocco pulled clear in the second half to win 4-2. Hakim Ziyech was the difference-maker, pulling the strings as Morocco's attack finally overwhelmed a Haitian side that had refused to fold.
Morocco finish level with Brazil on seven points but second on goal difference. Haiti end the tournament pointless, but their spirited display here - twice levelling the match - deserved more than a 4-2 defeat.
Switzerland 2-1 Canada
Switzerland topped Group B with a 2-1 win over Canada in a match that was goalless at half-time. Two goals in the second half put the Swiss in control before Canada pulled one back late on, but it was too little, too late.
The win gives Switzerland seven points from three games and a place in the round of 32 as group winners. Canada, on four points, advance as runners-up on goal difference ahead of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Canadians will rue a slow start in this one but can take solace from reaching the knockouts.
Bosnia-Herzegovina 3-1 Qatar
Bosnia-Herzegovina rescued their tournament with a 3-1 win over Qatar, but ultimately it was not enough. Two goals before the break and a third after gave Bosnia a comfortable victory, and they finish level on points with Canada - but a goal difference of -1 compared to Canada's +5 means the Bosnians are heading home.
Qatar, already eliminated before kickoff, pulled a goal back but never seriously threatened a comeback. They finish bottom of Group B with one point and a -8 goal difference.
Colombia 1-0 Congo DR
Colombia edged Congo DR 1-0 in a tight Group K affair to make it two wins from two and all but secure their place in the round of 32. The only goal came after a goalless first half, and it was enough to put Colombia on six points at the top of the group with one game still to play.
Congo DR, on one point from two matches, must beat Uzbekistan on the final matchday and hope other results go their way.
Panama 0-1 Croatia
Croatia kept their Group L hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Panama. Goalless at half-time, a single second-half goal settled it. Panama are eliminated - pointless after two games - while Croatia's three points put them right back in the mix behind England and Ghana.
Group Impact
Group C - Brazil 7pts (GD +6, winners), Morocco 7pts (GD +3, runners-up), Scotland 3pts, Haiti 0pts. Brazil and Morocco advance; Scotland and Haiti are out.
Group B - Switzerland 7pts (winners), Canada 4pts (GD +5, runners-up), Bosnia-Herzegovina 4pts (GD -1, eliminated), Qatar 1pt. Switzerland and Canada through; Bosnia miss out on goal difference despite matching Canada on points - a cruel way to exit.
Group K - Colombia 6pts (2 games), Portugal 4pts (2 games), Congo DR 1pt, Uzbekistan 0pts. Final matchday to come. Colombia need one point to guarantee top; Portugal need a point to confirm second.
Group L - England 4pts, Ghana 4pts, Croatia 3pts, Panama 0pts (eliminated). Final matchday to come. England and Ghana need a point; Croatia must win.
Looking Ahead
Group A settles on June 25 with Mexico already through and three teams chasing second. The final round of Groups K and L follows, with Colombia and England each needing just a point to confirm top spot. Croatia face a must-win against England or Ghana to keep their tournament alive.
